Background:

Sofia (she/her) is an environmental scientist currently studying the climate, environmental, and social impacts of alternative fuels. Her research evaluates alternative fuels value chains to assess opportunities, challenges, and associated risks. She earned her Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from Arizona State University in the USA and did her postdoctoral work at the Max-Planck Institute for Biology in Germany. Her graduate and postdoctoral research involved studying the production of biofuels from wastes and residues. Sofia speaks Spanish, English, German, French, and some Italian.
