Lead Senior Scientist, Methane Remote Sensing

Luis Guanter is a senior scientist working in the Office of Chief Scientist as part of the EDF Europe team. His current research focuses on remote sensing of methane emissions from fossil fuel production, which includes involvement in the definition of the satellite component of the International Methane Emissions Observatory and in the MethaneSAT satellite mission. He is based in Valencia, Spain, and shares his EDF position with a professorship at the Universitat Politècnica de València.

Luis Guanter obtained his Ph.D. in Environmental Physics from the Universitat de València (Spain) in 2007. Before joining the EDF and the Universitat Politècnica de València, he was Head of the Remote Sensing Section of the GFZ Potsdam in Germany and the Principal Investigator of the EnMAP satellite mission.
