“With all major news outlets calling the United States presidential election, Environmental Defense Fund Europe congratulates Joe Biden and Kamala Harris on this extraordinary milestone.

"The result of the election will have impact far beyond America’s borders on global environmental issues and, in particular, on our fight against climate change. We will warmly welcome the US back to the Paris Agreement and the broader global effort on climate change and look forward to renewed US leadership in the run-up to COP26 in Glasgow.

"The EU will have a key role to play in ensuring that the United States puts forward a credible and ambitious climate commitment under the Paris Agreement. A stronger commitment from the EU will leverage greater ambition from the United States. We are eager for Joe Biden to rebuild US environmental and climate action and begin to reverse the setbacks and delays caused by President Trump. The EU must lead by example and set the bar for ambition by strengthening its climate commitment in December and by offering the Biden administration a key partner on environment and climate action.”
