Poppy KalesiDirector of European Oil and Gas Policy
Poppy leads EDF's EU policy work on methane emissions from O&G and works remotely out of Stavanger, on the west coast of Norway. Sixteen years of experience from energy & climate policy, energy business strategy, R&D, and technology development allowed her to approach work from different angles.
Before joining EDF, she led technology development projects for the Norwegian ocean industries clusters (Bergen) connecting oceanographers, industry, and entrepreneurs to develop smart environmental monitoring technologies enabling the emerging ocean industries. Prior to that she tried her hand at building a peer-to-peer trading platform for distributed renewables, led Statoil's innovation strategy development (Oslo), advised the same company on regulatory affairs and climate (London), led the EU's CCS demonstration programme and launched six industrial initiatives on strategic energy technologies while working for the European Commission in Brussels, wrote parliamentary reports and helped broker deals as a parliamentary assistant to a British Liberal Member of the European Parliament who also led the Liberals in the Environment Committee and last, executed public affairs campaigns as an executive with Edelman in Brussels.
