Elizabeth Fonseca is senior manager, air quality, for Environmental Defense Fund Europe and leads the collaborative Breathe London project, which uses state-of-the-art technology to map air pollution across the city.
Background
For over two decades, Elizabeth has advanced environmental policy and worked to address pollution in the UK and the USA. She began her career in the private sector in the USA as an environmental consultant before moving on to the public sector as an environmental pollution regulator. Elizabeth then moved to the UK where she served as a scientific officer for Defra whilst completing her MSc in Environmental Engineering from Imperial College. She then spent several years in local government in London, managing a multi-disciplinary scientific team to tackle land, air, and water pollution.
